Renishaw Probe - WIPS - OMP40-2 - Settings

The probe has (3) LEDs. This lets you see one of the LEDs from each side of the probe. The (3) LEDs operate as one. The LEDs flash in different colors and different lengths of time. The sequence that the LED flashes tells you the probe settings.

The LEDs flash these colors:

  • Red
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Purple

The LEDs flashes a short or a long time. In the tables that follow, a small colored circle shows that the LED flashes a short time. A rectangle shows that the LED flashes a long time .

Look at the probe LEDs. Record the color and length of time that the LED flashes.

The meaning of the color and the length of time that the LED flashes is important. Refer to the table for the meaning.

The probe settings are in (4) groups,

  1. Switch-Off Method
  2. Enhanced Trigger Filter
  3. Optical Transmission Method/Probe Identification
  4. Optical Power.

The probe does a check of the LED. It does this before it shows the values of the settings.

LED Check

The LED flashes in this sequence: This tells you this information:
, , The LEDs operate correctly.

Switch off method

The LED flashes in this sequence: This tells you this information:
, , Switch off method is set to optical off. This is the initial setting for Haas machines.
, , Switch off method is set to short timeout (12 seconds).
, , Switch off method is set to medium time out (33 seconds).
, , Switch off method is set to long timeout (134 seconds).

Enhanced trigger filter setting

The LED flashes in this sequence: This tells you this information:
, , Enhanced trigger filter is set to OFF. This is the initial setting for Haas machines.
, , Enhanced trigger filter is set to on.

Optical transmission method / Probe identification

The LED flashes in this sequence: This tells you this information:
, , Legacy start filter is set to OFF.
, , Legacy start filter is set to ON.
, , Probe 1 is active. Usually the spindle probe is probe 1. This is the initial setting for Haas machines.
, , Probe 1 is active. Usually the table probe is probe 2.

Optical Power

The LED flashes in this sequence: This tells you this information:
, , The optical power level is set to the low power level. This is the initial setting for Haas machines.
, , The optical power level is set to the standard power level.

Battery status

The LED flashes in this sequence: This tells you this information:
, , , , The battery is good.
, , , , , , , , , The battery is low.

Be aware: Many service and repair procedures should be done only by authorized personnel. The service technicians at your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) have the training, experience, and are certified to do these tasks safely and correctly. You should not do machine repair or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes.
